27 August 2010 – Vehicle Registration Tax

The National Car Testing Service (NCTS) has been appointed by the Revenue Commissioners to carry out a range of vehicle registration functions on their behalf from 1 September 2010.

If a vehicle is being brought into Ireland from abroad, an appointment must be made with an NCTS centre within 7 days of the vehicle arriving in the State in order to register the vehicle and pay the VRT due.

The Revenue Commissioners have updated their “Guide to Vehicle Registration Tax” to include these changes in procedure. To access this guide, please follow attached link to the Revenue website.
